Every Amakaya Threads blouse is more than a garment; it is a portal to the Shipibo-Konibo worldview. The intricate geometric patterns you see—known as Kené—are their visual representation of the interconnectedness of all living things. Embroidering kené is a meditative practice, where the pattern has a beginning but no end. It is a "living language", a maps of the energy of the plants. Kené patterns are often inspired by the visions and medicinal songs (icaros) a practitioner may experience in a vision through plant medicines such as ayahuasca. ​
