LOCATIONS

In the Peruvian Amazon, people distinguish between what is known as high jungle (selva alta) and low jungle (selva baja). The low jungle is flat and sandy and is the ancestral home of the Shipibo people. The high jungle is where the Amazon basin climbs into the Andes mountains and brings the jungle with it. Neither is better or worse. They are just different and, because of seasonal factors, we work in both.

Our two 'high jungle' locations are located within the protected area of Cordillera Escalera Conservation Park, surrounded by stunning tropical mountain forest and rivers to swim in. And yet, less than an hour away from the Tarapoto airport.

We'll help you choose the right location based on seasonal factors, group size, and personal preference.

TREE HOUSE CENTER

This beautiful retreat center was built over the last 15 years by good friends of ours, Claudia and Javier. You can feel their heart and attention to detail throughout the space. One part wild jungle, one part zen garden, and one part cozy bed and breakfast — the center has an immaculate balance between comfort and immersion in nature.

The maloca and expansive common areas are nestled within the canopy and built as an open air environment, giving us the feeling that we are in a network of tree houses with plenty of space to be alone, to be together, and to be with the sounds and sights of the forest.

The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with private or semi-private bathrooms, hot showers, terraces and balconies.

BOBINSANA RIVER HOUSE

Truly one of a kind, this site was built by a wild Dutchman named Bruno. The property requires a bit of a hike and crossing of rivers to reach, but once there, it feels like an intimate oasis far removed from the outside world. This is also where Kajsa and Jonathan lives all year-round.

There is a large house with three private bedrooms, two showers, a huge common area/ceremony space, communal kitchen and a large jungle garden. There is one dieta hut in its own corner of the property with an outdoor bathroom and shower.

With the river just steps away, magical waterfalls, room to explore, and swimming holes all around, this site is perfect for the work we do and another great example of balancing comfort with rustic charm.

LOW JUNGLE PROJECT

This is a special and ongoing project of ours. We are building a small retreat and dieta center in the low jungle outside of Richi and Julio's village. A dream of theirs is to have a center in the deep jungle on land that they own, and we are all working together to make this a reality. It has already been an epic journey of learning and building and immersing ourselves in village life – with more chapters to come. We hope to tell the story at some point.

We are expecting to host our first few groups here in the second half of 2027.
